We chose to market an all fiberglass hood after talking to several composites experts. Cost differs based on country and city. We purposely designed this hood to have strong outer underside bracing but be open in the middle as a cowl induction hood should be.
All hand laid fiberglass hoods require some prep work. A benefit of a fiberglass hood is its light weight.
This savings is passed along to you. The raised cowl portion was molded into the ford hood and a mold made using the ford hood as a pattern.
If an original ford steel hood will fit your 1965 or 1966 Mustang this cowl hood will fit also. This will prevent the hood from bowing in the middle over time. The car in the pictures is an all original body panel Mustang that has never been in an accident.
This is an all new 1965 or 1966 cowl induction hood offered for the very first time by k. Please be certain you can live with this timing prior to purchasing.
This hood requires significantly less prep work prior to painting than most hoods on the market today. There can be some minor low spots or an occasional textured spot on the finish. Fiberglass hoods should be used with either light weight Shelby hood springs or a prop rod. Our fiberglass hoods are very fairly priced compared with just about any other fiberglass hood on the market.
As you can see in the pictures this hood fits.
These composites people told us that hoods made with a metal frame and fiberglass outer shell tend to crack after awhile since metal and fiberglass react to temperature and humidity differently.
And again, if a ford hood fits your Mustang this hood will also fit. The hoods are packed in new double walled cartons with Styrofoam protection on all sides, top, bottom, and corners.
I do not know if this is really true but it sounded plausible to us. Incidentally, we included clearance at the rear of the hood so even the larger oval air cleaners will fit. A commercial address will cost less than delivery to a residence. All mounting points are reinforced with metal and tapped to accept the same fasteners as a steel hood.
