The purpose of plate was to block cold air, sleet and snow front entering engine compartment in winter stored trunk when not use. It still has all of the original factory paint and decal on backside which reads: remove cover for summer operation. This plate is uniquely Thunderbird and was placed in the trunk at factory on all 1955 thru 1957 Thunderbird's. This is an original hood block off plate or cover.

This plate came from the trunk of a '57 west coast bird and was never used. 55 thru '57 Thunderbird's which are shown must have this plate displayed in the trunk. Perfect for replacing a missing, damaged or aftermarket plate with an assembly line original cover.
